The Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences has published another monograph from the series ‘Legal studies: A monograph series by the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences’ devoted to the issue of competition law. It is a work by Paweł Popardowski entitled Competition rules in agriculture in European Union legislation.
The monograph was awarded in the Fourth National Competition named after Prof. Andrzej Stelmachowski for the best habilitation/doctoral dissertation in the field of agricultural law.
From the editorial review:
The monograph is a valuable work due to its perfectly conducted analysis of the existing legal regulations in the subject matter defined by the title. It fills a significant gap on the market of scholarly publications on competition protection in the agricultural sector. It should be emphasised that the study is not limited to the exegesis of current and historical legal solutions, but it also contributes a number of views on the theory of law, as well as a number of important observations on the so-called law in action.
Prof. Dr Paweł Czechowski
‘The author convincingly argues that sectoral competition rules in agriculture modify the general competition rules, but only to the degree that this is necessary to fulfil the objectives of the common agricultural policy. … The monograph is a study of great cognitive value and is – to a large extent – innovative in nature, thereby adding to the doctrine of Polish agricultural law.’
