Legal Doctoral Programme


The Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences announces recruitment for the 3rd edition of Legal Doctoral Programme in the 2022–2023 academic year.

The Legal Doctoral Programme conducted by the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences prepares participants for independent research work and provides scientific supervision in order to enable them to write a doctoral dissertation and initiate the procedure for awarding a doctoral degree in the discipline of legal sciences on an extramural basis.

Participants of the Legal Doctoral Programme attend doctoral seminars (10 per academic year), while writing their doctoral dissertations under the supervision and guidance of their supervisors.

They also participate in other academic meetings within the discipline represented by the supervisors, which creates conditions for scholarly cooperation in research teams and for the preparation of scholarly publications.

The participants also take part in classes and workshops organised by ILS PAS.

Tuition fees:

7 500,00 PLN for two semesters for new participants
7 000,00 PLN for two semesters for those who graduated from the previous year’s programme
6 000,00 PLN for graduates of doctoral studies at ILS PAS for two semesters
5 000,00 PLN for two semesters for graduates of doctoral studies at ILS PAS for two semesters

Contracts are for a period of one academic year with the possibility of extension for subsequent years.

Recruitment rules:

The Legal Doctoral Programme of the ILS PAS is open for admission to individuals who hold a Master’s degree or equivalent or who hold a diploma referred to in Article 326(2)(2) or Article 327(2) of the Law on Higher Education and Science, which grants the right to apply for the award of a doctoral degree in the country in which the university issuing it is located.

In order to register, send the following documents by email to: doktorant@inp.pan.pl:

  1. a university diploma with a single- or second-cycle Master’s degree or equivalent
  2. a letter of application for admission to the Legal Doctoral Programme at PAS with a brief description of your academic interests, indicating the seminar of your choice and a preliminary proposal for your research project
  3. your curriculum vitae, with particular emphasis on professional and scholarly achievements to date
  4. a confirmation of payment of the registration fee
  5. a completed application form (to be found in the Files tab)

Admissions decisions regarding the Legal Doctoral Programme are made by the Recruitment Committee of ILS PAS on the basis of the documents submitted by the candidate and a possible interview with the candidate.

The applicants will be notified of the results of the recruitment process by SEPTEMBER 30, 2022

Zajęcia ogólne organizowane są w formie zdalnej przy wykorzystaniu platformy Microsoft Teams. Zajęcia seminaryjne z wybranym Opiekunem naukowym mogą odbywać się w formie zdalnej i stacjonarnej – po uzgodnieniu z Opiekunem naukowym i z uwzględnieniem aktualnej sytuacji epidemiologicznej.

Publikacja monografii z tekstami uczestników PSD INP PAN.

Naszym seminarzystom oferujemy możliwość przygotowania pod okiem opiekuna seminarium artykułu do monografii, którą wyda Wydawnictwo INP PAN. Pozwoli to na praktyczne doskonalenie pod okiem uznanych ekspertów warsztatu naukowego. Na początku roku akademickiego 2022/23 zostanie opublikowane ‘call for papers’. Termin publikacji uzależniony będzie od liczby zgłoszeń i poziomu prac.
