The Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences has published another monograph from the series ‘Legal Studies: A monograph series by the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences’, this one by Anna Hernandez-Połczyńska, entitled Special procedures of the UN Human Rights Council.
From the editorial reviews:
‘The author has chosen a task which is difficult on two counts. First, the mechanisms analysed have a developmental character. … Secondly, the number of procedures examined is significant. It was therefore quite a challenge to present the issue in a synthetic and communicative way. We must admit that the author coped with it very well.’
Prof. Dr Barbara Mikołajczyk
‘The monograph was written at a socially interesting moment, when the need and importance of the science and teaching of human rights are sometimes undermined by some actors in public life. The study provides stimulus for discussion on one of the aspects of human rights protection, with a focus on soft instruments of their influence, related to the area of education. The activity of the Human Rights Council, with its leading mechanism of special procedures, fulfils a universal and thus educational and popularising function.’
