International Scientific Conference. How business environment institutions contributed to economic development? Theoretical and empirical approach

Karol Dąbrowski (Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin), Tomasz Dorożyński (University of Lodz) and Piotr Marciniak (Institute of Law Studies Polish Academy of Science) cordially invite you to participate in the International Scientific Conference entitled:

How business environment institutions contributed to economic development?
Theoretical and empirical approach

The conference will take place on November 16th, 2023 on-line on Teams. Participation in the conference will be free of charge. We kindly ask you to register here. We will send you a link a day before the conference on your email address.

This year we will focus on chambers of commerce in Spain, Hungary, Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland. The selection of countries is not accidental. Most typical studies focus on countries such as Germany, France and Great Britain. However, the situation and operating conditions of business environment organizations in each country are actually different – sometimes far from these most frequently discussed examples.

Therefore, we asked researchers from the above-mentioned countries to briefly explain current position of chambers in their countries to better understand both the differences and challenges chambers face, as well as ideas of their possible evolution. We will held six 20-minute presentations followed by discussion panels.

How business environment institutions contributed to economic development? Theoretical and empirical approach
Lublin-Łódź-Warszawa

16th November 2023

Karol Dąbrowski (Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin), Tomasz Dorożyński (University of Lodz), Piotr Marciniak (Institute of Law Studies Polish Academy of Science) created an interdisciplinary research group focused on chambers of commerce. They conduct comparative studies on various business environment institutions, encompassing legal, economic, political, and sociological aspects. The research group members published numerous books, chapters and papers related to these subjects.

In November 2023, the team plans to organize an International Scientific Conference entitled: “How business environment institutions contributed to economic development? Theoretical and empirical approach”. Its principal aim is to present current studies and invite researchers of business environment institutions from Poland and abroad to discuss further research directions.

The conference will be held under the honorary patronage of:

  • Prof. Celina Nowak, Ph.D., Director of Institute of Law Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences
  • Prof. Antoni Różalski, Ph.D., President of the Lodz Society of Science
  • Prof. Maciej Słodki, Ph.D. MD, Rector of the Mazovian University in Płock
  • Małgorzata Szreniawska, Ph.D., Rector of the University of Humanities and Economics in Zamość
  • Piotr Sendecki, Attorney, President of the Management Board of the Pro Scientia Iuridica Scientific Association

The conference will focus on the role of organizations representing entrepreneurs in the relations between the state and the economy. We plan to address issues related to the position and role of business environment institutions and self-regulatory organizations in dialogue with the state. We will also explore their potential evolution, institutional factors and effectiveness, quality of governance, and the diversity of stakeholders of public institutions.

The organizers would like to learn the participants’ opinions on the aforementioned issues and to present them from various perspectives – both theoretical (with consideration of the latest studies in different countries, especially published in national languages, which may be unknown to English-speaking researchers) and practical (including case studies and regional analyses).

Participation in the conference will be free of charge. The conference will be held in English online via the MS Teams platform. We plan three panels with two short breaks. Time of each speech – 15 minutes. A moderated discussion is scheduled after each panel. The conference will start at 10.00 AM.

The organizers kindly request the submission of abstracts for proposed presentations along with keywords by October 23, 2023 to the following address: karol.dabrowski@mail.umcs.pl. Please save the abstracts in a PDF file. In the abstracts please indicate your affiliation, email address, and ORCID ID. The decision regarding the acceptance of presentations will be made after evaluating the submitted abstracts, not later than October 30, 2023. The organizers will provide the link for participation in the Conference by email after confirming the registrations.

Please accept our kind invitation!
